WALLAN was no match for Darebin in its round 12 Northern Football Netball League division three women’s clash.

The Magpies needed a win to stay off the bottom of the ladder, but it was not forthcoming, with Darebin putting together a big performance at AH Capp Reserve.

Two goals in the opening term gave Darebin a 12-1 lead, and the Falcons extended their lead by kicking two more goals to lead 27-2 at the main break.

Wallan got on the scoreboard in the third quarter through Toni Gussenhoven, but that was sandwiched by two more goals in the third quarter as Darebin continued its dominance, leading 39-8 at the final change.

The Falcons added two more goals to eventually win 8.5 (53) to 1.3 (9).

Nicole Evans, Toni Gussenhoven, Ava Borg, Isabel Stevens, Brittney Knigth and Olivia Gibb were all named in the best for Wallan.

The Magpies now have a week off, but will be hoping to move off the bottom of the ladder as they take on Thomastown in two weeks’ time, while Kilmore plays a standalone women’s match against Ivanhoe on Saturday while it had a bye over the weekend.
