Cooper O'Brien joined the North Central Review in May 2026 as a Cadet Journalist. He is fresh out of University with a Bachelor of Media and Communications, majoring in journalism and sports media. THERE are plenty of events around the wider Mitchell Shire Council to feast your eyes upon for your family across the next two weeks.
A list of events can be seen below.

When: Friday, June 26. 6:00– 9:00pm.

Where: Wallan Multi-Purpose Centre.

What: Wallan Winter Wonderland Disco. Open to all young people aged 12-18 years with a connection to Mitchell Shire. Once again DJ Hannah G will be on the decks all night with free snacks and attendees are asked to dress to impress their best “Winter Wonderland” themed fit.

When: Monday, June 29. 2:00-3:00pm.

Where: Greater Beveridge Community Centre.

What: Indegenous Movement and Artifacts Experience. Children will discover the rich traditions of Australia’s First Peoples through Indigenous dance, music, artefacts and cultural knowledge.

When: Tuesday, June 30. 10:30am-2:30pm.

Where: Wallan Youth Room.

What: Barista for Beginners. Learn the basics of coffee making and hospitality service with the workshop.

When: Wednesday, July 1. 11:30am-1:30pm.

Where: Kilmore Leisure Centre.

What: Inflatable fun day. An opportunity to hit the pool and take on the blow up obstacle course.

When: Tuesday, July 2. 10:30-11:30am + More times across the week.

Where: Kilmore Library + Other locations across the Mitchell Shire.

What: Taungurung Story Telling and Art session suitable for families to learn, listen and connect with First Nations culture.

When: Monday, July 6. 9:30am-12:30pm.

Where: Greater Beveridge Community Centre.

What: Reptile Incursion to celebrate NAIDOC week. A hands-on experience with Australian wildlife while exploring the rich cultural significance of the Rainbow Serpent and other dreamtime stories.

When: Tuesday July, 7. 2:30-3:30pm + More times across the week.

Where: Wallan Library + Other locations across the shire.

What: Create your own lizard door hanger to hang on your bedroom door, wall or window. A hands on craft sessions which encourages creativity, fine motor skills and self-expression while creating a unique piece of handmade décor to take home.

When: Wednesday, July 8. 10:30-11:30am.

Where: Kilmore Library.

What: Max and the Wild Things theatre show based on Maurice Sendak’s beloved book.

When: Wednesday, July 8. 11:30am-1:30pm.

Where: Seymour Aquatic Centre.

What: Inflatable Fun Day. An opportunity to hit the pool and take on the blow up obstacle course.
