MOTORISTS travelling from Wandong to Kilmore and beyond will need to reroute over an upcoming two-week period from June 15, with the closure of the Northern Highway entrance to Epping-Kilmore Road allowing works to continue for the construction of a roundabout.
A statement on the works on Transport Victoria’s website says motorists should plan for an extra five minutes of traffic time, with detours set to be enforced via O’Grady’s Road and Kilmore East Road.
“To complete this project as efficiently and safely as possible a full closure of Epping-Kilmore Road (Wandong Road) at the intersection of the Northern Highway will be in place for two weeks from Monday, June 15 to Monday, June 29, weather permitting,” Transport Victoria wrote.
“This closure is required so that our crews can complete construction works on a narrow section of road where there is not enough space to operate heavy machinery while allowing vehicles to move through the intersection.
“During this closure, vehicles travelling between Wandong and Kilmore will be detoured via O’Grady’s Road and Kilmore East Road. Please plan ahead, follow detour signage and allow up to five minutes extra travel time.
“Vehicles travelling on the Northern highway will be able to continue through the project site. Please follow direction and reduced speed limits.
“Access to local properties on Epping-Kilmore Road (Wandong Road) will remain available during the road closure.
“Larger heavy vehicles and Oversize Overmass vehicles operating under a permit should travel via the Hume Freeway and Northern Highway.”
