The stage is set in Victorian London. Sweeney Todd tells the tale of a wronged barber who returns to the city seeking vengeance, only to form a wickedly funny and gruesome partnership with the resourceful Mrs. Lovett and together, they serve up one of the most notorious stories in musical theatre history by bringing together a stellar local cast and creative team.

Peter Read steps into his dream role as Sweeney Todd alongside Katie Fitzgerald as the cunning Mrs Lovett.

Audiences will be delighted with music and lyrics originally composed by Stephen Sondheim— it is both chilling and beautiful, featuring iconic songs including “The Ballad of Sweeney Todd, A Little Priest, and Not While I’m Around.”

Seymour Performers Workshop’s talented ensemble of performers are supported by a dedicated production team creating atmospheric sets, costumes, and choreography that will transport audiences straight to Fleet Street.

Director Olivia King says it’s a production you can’t miss.

“This is one of Sondheim’s greatest works — thrilling, challenging, and utterly captivating,” she said.

“We’re excited to bring its dark humour, soaring music, and unforgettable characters to the stage.”

Performances will be held at the Seymour College Arts Centre at 5A Edward St, Seymour from Saturday, November 8 to Sunday, November 16, 2025.
