KILMORE District Hospital has had a massive upgrade to its technology department, launching its Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
The introduction will streamline multiple areas across the hospital in its delivery of services, which includes the urgent care centre, inpatient services, theatre and anaesthetics and the maternity ward.
It’s a big step forward for the hospital, which now joins the rest of the Northern Health network in transitioning from a paper-based process to an integrated digital record.
The introduction of the EMR puts Kilmore District Hospital in a good position as a leading healthcare provider, according to EMR Director Terri Fiorenza.
“The successful implementation of the EMR system at Kilmore District Hospital marks a significant milestone in the ongoing journey toward enhanced patient care and streamlined clinical operations,” she said.
“This achievement ensures that healthcare professionals have timely access to comprehensive, accurate health information, supporting safer, more effective care for every patient.”
The EMR will be able to keep a consistent and complete record ready to go for patients who need care with allergies, medications and medical history.
The transition to the EMR will reduce administration time, but also enhance the accuracy of patient information, according to Kilmore District Hospital Director of Nursing and Operations Director Christina Campbell.
For employees, it means more time for direct patient care and better support for clinical decision-making. For our patients, it ensures safer and more coordinated care,” she said.
