WHILE written submissions have closed there is still an opportunity those who have provided submissions to comment on the range of Mitchell Shire Council plans.

Council has welcomed feedback on three key draft plans that will shape the future of the region at the July Community Questions and Hearings Committee meeting on Monday, July 28.

The plans are vital in guiding how Council delivers services, allocates resources, and responds to community needs across the next decade. Community feedback so far has highlighted a strong desire to maintain safe roads, protect the rural charm of the Shire, and ensure access to quality health, community services, and open spaces.

The draft plans now open for final consultation are the Council Plan and Health and Wellbeing Plan 2025–2029: A roadmap outlining how Council will support community wellbeing and deliver services over the next four years.

Also up for discussion is the 10-Year Asset Plan: A long-term strategy for maintaining and upgrading $1.2 billion worth of public assets, including roads, parks, and buildings.

Comment is also invited on the 10-Year Financial Plan: A financial blueprint ensuring services are sustainably funded and infrastructure is responsibly managed into the future.

“These plans reflect what our community has told us is important, safe and connected transport, quality services, green spaces, and sound financial management,” a Council spokesperson said.

Residents can review the draft plans on the Engaging Mitchell Shire website.

Community members who submit feedback can also opt to speak to their submission at the Community Questions and Hearings Committee.
