RESIDENTS are encouraged to roll up their sleeves and get involved in this year’s National Tree Day celebration on Sunday July 27 with a hands-on community planting event at Brunton Park Conservation Area in Mernda.

Running from 10am to 1pm, the event will see volunteers helping to plant native trees and wildflowers to support local biodiversity and improve habitat for wildlife.

All tools will be provided on the day, and everyone is welcome, whether you’re a seasoned green thumb or just keen to do your bit for the environment.

Participants are advised to dress for the conditions, with outdoor clothing and sturdy footwear recommended, as the site may be wet and muddy.

To keep energy levels up, there will be a sausage sizzle and coffee van on site. So bring a keep cup and a bit of cash to enjoy a bite to eat after a morning’s work.

National Tree Day is Australia’s largest community tree-planting and nature care event, offering a great opportunity to connect with nature, neighbours, and make a positive impact on the local environment.
