A NEW round of grants is encouraging community groups and organisations to develop and implement community-driven road safety projects.
This year, a total of $600,000 through the Transport Accident Commission (TAC) grants program will be awarded to recipients to help make roads in the community safer.
There are two categories available: a Road Safety Support Grant (up to $50,000), and a Road Safety Collaboration Grant (up to $150,000).
In 2024, six Victorian community groups and organisations received funding, sharing in $350,000 to support local road safety projects.
These programs support the goals of the State Government’s Victorian Road Safety Strategy 2021–2030, which aims to halve deaths and reduce serious injuries on roads by 2030.
Minister for Roads and Road Safety Melissa Horne said the grants were a good way to ensure road safety is kept in check.
“We’re supporting communities to identify road safety issues and find ways to make roads safer in their local areas,” she said.
“We continue to invest at record levels in road safety infrastructure that saves lives, reduces injuries, and prevents crashes before they happen.”
Applications for the 2025 TAC Road Safety Grant Program are now open and will close on Wednesday, April 2 at 3pm. For more information, visit www.tac.vic.gov.au/about-the-tac/community/grants.
