EARLIER this month, Broadford and Seymour residents and visitors were finally able to cash in their eligible drink containers locally with the opening of two new Victorian Container Deposit Scheme (CDS Vic) Reverse Vending Machine (RVM) refund points.
Located at the Broadford Leisure Centre, 35 Mollison Street, Broadford, and Chittick Park, Pollard Street, Seymour, the vending machines will allow residents to receive a refund of 10 cents per eligible drink container. The refund can be redeemed as a cash voucher refundable at Coles Supermarkets, via an electronic funds transfer, or as a donation to a charity.
Visy is the Zone Operator for the CDS Vic North Zone and has established over 245 refund points across the Loddon, Mallee, and Hume regions, and the inner north and eastern suburbs of Melbourne.
Visy Container Deposit Scheme General Manager Tim O’Donnell said the installation of the additional vending machines would ensure that all Mitchell Shire residents could reap the benefits of the scheme.
“We continue to expand our network of refund points in the Mitchell Shire Council to make recycling easy and rewarding for all,” he said.
The community can find their nearest refund point and access their electronic refunds through the CDS Vic North app for iOS or Android.
