LOCALS are invited to visit the Hilldene Brigade this Saturday for a private firefighting vehicle inspection.
Backed by Mitchell Shire Council, State Government, and the Safer Together project, this fantastic opportunity will run alongside the brigade’s annual open day, with free coffee and morning tea provided to all, plus the chance to win an epic door prize.
A fire protection trailer display will showcase all the essential equipment, allowing residents to get up close and personal with vital resources.
Hilldene Fourth Lieutenant and Brigade Community Safety Coordinator Jake Williamson emphasised the importance of preserving locals’ personal firefighting equipment, noting that many residents had assisted greatly in first attack during fires.
“In recent fire seasons within the Hilldene CFA area, the significant impact private firefighting appliances can have on initial attack and assistance to the CFA was shown on multiple occasions when deliberately lit grass fires were started in our area,” he said.
“Without the assistance of these private appliances, it may have been a different story.
“These locals want to help protect their properties, their neighbours, and their communities, so we are always willing to work alongside them because we all want the same result.
“So, this day is just about educating the community on the best practices and equipment they can have on their appliances so we can all work effectively together on a fireground with both fire trucks and aircraft.”
The event will begin bright and early at 8.30am, and finish at 11.30am. Hilldene Brigade is located at 470 Seymour-Tooborac Road, Hilldene.
