Residents can now put their nominations in for the 2024 City of Whittlesea Community Awards.
The awards, which will be presented during the annual City of Whittlesea Community Festival on March 16, 2025, honour residents who have made extraordinary impacts on the community through their service, leadership, and dedication.
The 2024 Community Awards will be presented to Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year, Senior Citizen of the Year, Access and Inclusion Citizen of the Year, and Sustainable Environment Citizen or Group of the Year.
City of Whittlesea Mayor Councillor Aidan McLindon encouraged the community to acknowledge someone who had made a real difference.
“The Community Awards provide an opportunity to recognise the important contributions made by people in our community,” he said.
“They shine a spotlight on individuals who have gone above and beyond to make the City of Whittlesea a better place for all, whether through voluntary efforts, advocating for important causes, or working to create positive change.
“I encourage you to nominate someone who has made a difference, so we can come together to celebrate their achievements and continue to build a stronger, more vibrant city.”
2023 Young Citizen of the Year recipient and Deputy Youth Council Mayor Kaynat Virk said the awards were inspiring.
“Receiving the award was an incredible honour, and it gave me a real boost,” she said.
“It has inspired me even more to continue striving for greater contributions to the community.”
Nominations close March 5, 2025.
