V/Line passengers on the Seymour line now have access to more reliable trains and better services.

Member for Yan Yean Lauren Kathage, Member for Kalkallo Ros Spence, and Member for Northern Victoria Jaclyn Symes announced that from December 1, the 68 weekly services currently operated by two-carriage Sprinter trains will be replaced with modern, larger, and more accessible VLocity trains.

The changes will add hundreds of additional seats to Seymour Line trains each week, including some during the busiest times of the day. Introducing more VLocity trains on the line will also improve the availability of Sprinter trains, reducing the risk of reduced or cancelled services.

Planning is also underway for weekend trains to service the community every hour on the Seymour Line between 8am and 9pm.

Ms Symes said the announcement would improve services for passengers.

“We know train travel on the Seymour Line is more popular than ever thanks to the fare cap, and now we’re further boosting services for passengers,” she said.

Both Ms Kathage and Ms Spence said it would help passengers on board.

“Passengers have told us they want more capacity on Seymour Line trains, and that’s exactly what we’re delivering,” Ms Kathage said.

“We are delivering more reliable and better services across the Seymour Line as we roll out more modern VLocity trains on the network,” Ms Spence said.
