Last month, the Bridge Inn Road Upgrade invited the community to celebrate the project’s early completion of major works.
Hundreds of locals attended the free event, enjoying a variety of family-themed entertainment and activities, a free barbecue, and refreshments.
Held at the Painted Hills Community Pavilion in Doreen, Major Road Projects Program Director Dipal Sorathia said the celebration was the team’s way of thanking the community for its patience and support during the project, which has delivered safer and more-reliable travel between Doreen and Mernda.
“It was our pleasure to put on the community event to thank the local community,” he said.
“We appreciated the patience and support we received while working to complete the project’s major works along this important section of Bridge Inn Road.”
While the project team has completed major works ahead of schedule, crews will continue undertaking minor works, including landscaping and other finishing works along Bridge Inn Road over the coming months.
For the safety of crews completing these works, the speed limit will be temporarily reduced along sections of Bridge Inn Road, and some lane and side-road closures will be in place at certain times.
