Cricket Victoria and the Melbourne Renegades are pleased to announce a new partnership with Mirvac.

The two-year partnership between Olivine and Mirvac will help strengthen community engagement in the growing Olivine development in Donnybrook—a significant step in promoting cricket and enhancing community connections within the heart of the Renegade’s region in Melbourne’s booming north.

To celebrate the partnership, Mirvac, Cricket Victoria, and the Melbourne Renegades will host a grand launch event on December 1 from 12pm–3pm at the new $4.5 million Olivine Recreation Reserve.

The free event will include appearances from Melbourne Renegades players like Jake Fraser-McGurk, as well as signed cricket gear, free food and drinks, giveaways, and cricket skills clinics for children.

The grand launch event will also celebrate the official opening of the Olivine Recreation Reserve, a state-of-the-art community facility featuring two ovals, outdoor cricket nets, netball courts, playground, dog park, future skate park, and a modern sports pavilion inclusive of change rooms and function spaces.

Mirvac has partnered with Cricket Victoria and Melbourne Renegades.

The precinct is set to become a central hub for sports and community activities in the area, with the reserve soon to be officially managed by the City of Whittlesea.

Cricket Victoria Chief Executive Nick Cummins welcomed the timeliness of the new partnership.

“We know Victoria is growing and growing quickly,” he said.

“Partnerships … are crucial in growing the game at a community level and bringing cricket to growth corridors.

“We are excited to work with Olivine … to inspire the next generation of cricketers and to promote a real passion for the sport.”

Melbourne Renegades General Manager James Rosengarten said the Renegades were honoured to be part of the community.

“We are excited to be involved in the Olivine by Mirvac community,” he said.

“This partnership will allow us to connect with families and young cricketers in the region, promoting our club and the opportunities that we have to offer.

“We look forward to engaging with local schools and residents through this initiative.”

Mirvac’s General Manager Residential Development VIC Elysa Anderson explained the importance of providing grassroots sporting opportunities for the local community.

“Sporting partnerships like this are crucial in helping grow communities because it allows for meaningful friendships with neighbours to develop and strengthen,” she said.

“At Mirvac, we pride ourselves on providing high-quality [amenities] for the communities we create, and we are excited to work with Cricket Victoria and the Renegades to inspire the next generation of cricketers and to promote a love for the sport in the Donnybrook area at Olivine Recreation Reserve.”

Olivine Recreation Reserve is located at Cycad Avenue, Donnybrook.
