Many people find the energy world quite confusing.
Some will remember when there was only one organisation that was responsible for the generation of electricity—the State Electricity Commission (SEC). However, now there are dozens of companies that offer electricity to our homes at varying rates and on different conditions. For most of us, it’s all too confusing so we just pay our bills as they come in and accept what is!
But things are moving fast in the energy world and it’s important to keep up. What’s on offer and what you are paying to these various companies may not be the best deal for you.
To provide the local community with useful information in this confusing field, Mitchell Community Energy will host a free public meeting at the Flood Recovery Centre at 7.30pm on Monday, November 25.
Speakers will include Tim Forcey (national expert on home electrification and author of the high selling book My efficient electric home handbook), SEC General Manager (Assets) Lane Crockett, and a Mitchell Shire Council officer who will talk about the Solar Savers Program, an initiative of the Goulburn Murray Councils Alliance which aims to make it easy for households and businesses to electrify their premises.
This is an important opportunity to get expert advice on the rapidly changing energy world and how you can take part in it to save money—and also help save the planet.
