The Mernda Maker’s Market is back on this Saturday—the ideal destination to discover unique hardware gifts while supporting local artisans.
Starting from 11am, residents can head down to the Mernda Uniting Church to explore around 16 stalls for crafted items, including wooden products, sewing textile products, and decorative wear.
On the day, locals can also have a treat with food stores, including Middle Eastern food.
Mernda Neighbourhood House, formerly known as Mernda Community House, partnered with Whittlesea Community Connections (WCC) and Lalor Neighbourhood House for this year’s market—three community organisations that run programs and classes.
The market collaboration supports WCC’s Refugee Employment Pathways program, and Lalor’s new social enterprise initiative that promotes local makers.
Mernda Neighbourhood House Coordinator Paras Christou said the overall theme was supporting local makers and creatives in partnership with the community organisations.
“We wanted to support local makers and creatives who sell products they craft,” she said.
“[At Mernda Neighbourhood House], we run several activity skills and classes, and we wanted to provide an avenue for those students or participants to sell what they have made in the classes.”
Mernda Uniting Church generously provided the space for the market, and frequently offers the neighbourhood house a space to deliver some of its programs.
The Mernda Makers Market will be held at Mernda Uniting Church, located at 97 Schotters Road, Mernda.
The market will run from 11am–6pm on Saturday, October 12.
