The North Central Review is an independently owned newspaper publishing company based in Kilmore that is responsible for publishing two community newspapers each week, covering communities within the Mitchell Shire

Construction work will begin this month on Kilmore’s newest community of Broadstead, with national civil construction company Winslow appointed to commence the works.

Developer Jinding informed that the site works will start in August, which will include the extension of Tootle Street in Kilmore, with civil works also starting on the project’s first and second stages.

Broadstead’s master plan will ultimately deliver 11 hectares of natural open space when the 60-hectare site is completed, complementing the existing green space.

The construction of homes is expected to begin in mid-2025.

The works have been welcomed by Broadstead’s early purchasers, including Wallan’s Navdeep Singh and Sugandha Kurana, who plan to build their first home in the coming years, and acknowledged Broadstead’s intention to keep the area’s semi-rural charm.

“The land in Kilmore is quite affordable compared to Wallan and surrounding areas, and we have been able to secure a large block of nearly 800sqm which will be great for our dog to run around in,” Mr Singh said.

“The Broadstead community is really well designed, and it’s not as big as some of the other developments we looked at, so we think it will have a nice community feel.”

Jinding’s General Manager of Developments Dr Andrew Ashwood said the construction commencement was a huge milestone for the community and the growth of Kilmore.

“The commencement of construction works at Broadstead provides confidence to our many purchasers that this new community is moving ahead,” he said.

“The start of construction also signals growth for historic Kilmore, giving more people the opportunity to live the idyllic country lifestyle in this serene part of the world.

“We are really pleased at the response to Broadstead to date, with many locals who live just up the road among our first purchasers. The feedback we have consistently received is how this area offers the best of both worlds – regional charm and urban convenience.”

Broadstead’s construction works will deliver over $100 million worth of infrastructure upgrades, including an extension to McIvors Road, sewer and drainage infrastructure to service the precinct, and shared cycling and walking paths, including the preservation of native vegetation at the Quinns Road Reserve.

Winslow Constructors General Manager Andrew Richardson said he was honoured to work with Jinding once again on an important development in the community.

“Winslow is delighted to continue our successful working relationship with Jinding in the creation of this significant development for the Kilmore community,” he said.
