Police have arrested a man after the body of English school teacher Annette Brennan, 67, was found at a waste management facility in Epping earlier this month.
The grim discovery was made by staff at the Cooper Street facility while moving green waste on July 3.
Investigators believe the woman was inside a bin that was picked up outside a property on Hilgay Street in Coolaro on July 2 and then conveyed to the facility.
Homicide Squad Detectives arrested 45-year-old Coolaroo man Stephen Fleming in Glenroy last Tuesday morning. He appeared in the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday morning, and has been remanded until his committal mention on January 8, 2025.
An investigation is underway to determine the circumstances surrounding her death.
It is believed the man and the deceased woman were known to each other.
A significant CCTV canvas of the Coolaroo area remains ongoing, and police are keen to speak to anyone who may have CCTV or dash-cam footage, particularly between June 23 and July 2.
Detectives are also keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed any suspicious activity in the area around that time.
