A new Reverse Vending Machine (RVM) has been installed at Doreen, providing residents and visitors the opportunity to cash in their eligible drink containers for a 10-cent refund.
Located at 101 Hazel Glen Drive, Doreen, the RVM will become the sixth machine installed in the area, with additional refund points available at Tolley’s Depot and Waterview Recreation Reserve in Mernda, and Aapka Bazaar, Mill Park Lakes Reserve, and 855 Plenty Road in South Morang.
Since the Victorian Container Deposit Scheme (CDS Vic) launched in 2023, over 600 million containers have been returned in Victoria for a 10-cent refund. The refunds can be redeemed as a cash voucher at Woolworths, via an Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT), or as a charity donation.
CDS Vic North Zone operator Visy will continue to establish refund points across the Loddon, Mallee, and Hume regions and the inner north and eastern suburbs of Melbourne, bringing the network of refund points to 230.
Visy General Manager of the CDS Tim O’Donnell was excited about the expansion of the program.
“We’re expanding our network of refund points in the City of Whittlesea to make recycling easy and rewarding for all,” he said.
