The number of early childhood educator vacancies across the Goulburn region, including the Mitchell Shire, has hit 104.

The shortage of staff positions includes early childhood teachers, casual and assistant educators, centre directors, cooks, administration, and staff.

Member for Kew Jess Wilson said families across central Victoria are paying the price for Labor’s financial mismanagement when they delayed the rollout of their Free Kinder initiative and Government-owned early learning and childcare centres in the recent State Budget.

Ms Wilson said despite the high number of vacancies in this region, not a single one of the vacancies were advertised with a Victorian Government financial incentive attached.

“The Government must explain why not a single one of the vacancies across the Goulburn region is being advertised with a State Government financial incentive,” she said.
