Neighbourhood Watch is a not-for-profit community volunteer-based organisation that aims to improve the safety and security of local communities and involve residents in preventing crime in their neighbourhoods.

The organisation also aims to educate people about crime prevention strategies and measures they can take to prevent local crime, which in doing so relieves police resources and frees up their time to deal with more pressing issues.

The South Mitchell Neighbourhood Watch outreach covers communities from Beveridge to Broadford, and provides support for communities while also promoting resilience and social inclusion.

The local crime prevention organisation encourages members of the community to get involved and do their part in helping prevent crime, or simply learn about measures they can take to avert crime – which can be as simple as using anti-theft screws on number plates.

There are many opportunities and jobs available for those who wish to get involved, ranging from helping set up IT-related spaces or organising barbeques.

The Neighbourhood Watch would like to thank their proud sponsors Bendigo Bank and Member for McEwen Rob Mitchell, who print their articles at no cost.
