Member for Euroa Annabelle Cleeland is encouraging community groups to apply for grants that will provide much-needed assistance to Victoria’s unpaid carers.
Applications for the Connecting Carers in their Community program opened late last month, with grants between $15,000 and $25,000 available for grassroots and community groups delivering local support to carers.
More than 700,000 carers across Victoria provide essential support to family, friends, and others with care needs.
“This grant funding is an opportunity to make life a little bit easier for those doing such an essential job,” Ms Cleeland said.
“Carers in our community are providing care around the clock, making it difficult for them to access the support they need to look after themselves, seek work or study opportunities, or even connect with others in their community.
“Carer support groups, community groups, community health services, local councils, neighbourhood houses, and other grassroots groups are all eligible to apply and I encourage they do so.”
Applications are open until July 12, 2024. For more information, please visit www.carersvictoria.org.au.
Any interested organisations can also contact Ms Cleeland’s office at annabelle.cleeland@parliament.vic.gov.au for a letter of support to go with their application.
