The Blues suffered a rough 69-point loss in round five of the Northern Football Netball League, NFNL, against Fitzroy Stars at the weekend.

Last week Kilmore made its redemption in the ANZAC round against the Old Paradians, but the side were unable to deliver the same performance.

A slow day for Kilmore, it was a tough first quarter for the seniors, watching Fitzroy kick goals and behinds to make the score 31-9 by the end of the first quarter.

Kilmore could not get a goal or behind in the second quarter, with the scoreboard not making any changes for the side, while Fitzroy was more than halfway to hitting triple digits.

Although Kilmore did not have a great start, the side still proved it was in the competition after showing improvement in the fourth quarter, adding 36 points to the scoreboard.

The final score of the game was 121-52. Kilmore will play a home game against Epping this Saturday. In neighbouring areas, Mernda was almost the winning team until Ivanhoe made the effort to claim victory with five points.

Ivanhoe played to its victory with kicking the first two goals in the first quarter, but Mernda was not too far behind.

By halftime, Ivanhoe was up by 20 points but Mernda made it possible to change the 20-point score difference in the fourth quarter, kicking four goals and two behinds.

A good effort from Mernda, the final buzzer saw Ivanhoe with a 70-65 win. Mernda will have a bye in round six.
