Camper trailer stolen with Wallan campers inside

Torquay Crime Investigation Unit detectives are appealing for information following the theft of a vehicle and camper trailer, occupied by two Wallan residents, from Cumberland River early Sunday morning.

Investigators were told the vehicle with a camper trailer and annexe was parked at a rest stop on Great Ocean Road.

At about midnight, a male offender jumped in the vehicle while the male and female occupants, along with two dogs, were sleeping inside and drove off.

The 20-year-old Wallan woman was dragged a short distance inside the annexe of the camper trailer before falling onto the road, causing a minor injury.

The 20-year-old Wallan man remained inside the camper trailer until the vehicle broke down in Lorne and the offender fled on foot.

One of the dogs was located by some nearby campers at about 5.45pm and returned to his worried owners.

The second dog was located where the theft occurred.
