Seniors art expo returns in Kilmore

Popular Stories

The Kilmore Senior Citizens Club is set to once again host an art expo this weekend, showcasing a range of different styles and works from the group’s amateur artists.

More than 200 pieces have been prepared over the past year by the group’s 12 art participants across a range of genres and mediums, with all works to be available for purchase by the public.

Kilmore Senior Citizens Club art educator Maria Dee said the expo would feature diverse art made by passionate artists at an affordable price.

“We all come here and do art because we’re interested in it. We’re not professionals, but we have a lot of different interests and styles and we’re inspired by different things,” she said.

“It’s just about getting people through the door and seeing what we’re all about.”

The upcoming expo will be held in addition to the Kilmore Art Expo and the Kilmore Busking Championships, with the group looking to take advantage of the increased foot traffic and lively atmosphere.

Ms Dee also thanked the Seymour Art Society for its support in providing stands to display the group’s work, as well as Barry Plant for assistance with signage.

Art classes are held at the Kilmore Senior Citizens Club Rooms every Friday, with all members welcome regardless of skill or previous experience.

The art expo will be held from 10am to 4pm on Saturday and Sunday at the group’s club rooms, located at 7 Sydney Street.
