ANZAC Day is a time for the community to come together and recognise and remember the sacrifice and service of the Australian Defence Force.
Again, this year Mitchell Shire towns will stage a wide range of memorial services ranging from dawn services, the traditional two-up game and community barbeque lunches.
The following towns will be holding services on April 25:
Beveridge
An event will be held at Club Mandalay from 12pm, featuring a game of two-up, live music, and face painting. A community barbecue will be available for a gold coin donation. For more information, email info@clubmandalay.com.au or phone 9037 3700.
Broadford
A march will start at the corner of High Street and Hamilton Street at 9.30am, continuing along High Street to the cenotaph where an Anzac service will occur.
Kilmore
Dawn service at 6am at Hudson Park cenotaph. A march will assemble next to the NAB branch at 10.30am and step off at 10.45am, before another service in Hudson Park at 11am.
Pyalong
There will be a march along High Street, followed by a Commemorative Service. Marchers are requested to assemble at the General Store at 10.45 am. The march will be led by Rats of Tobruk Pipes and Drums piper, Mr Les Kenfield.
The ceremony will be held at the Pyalong Memorial Gardens, in front of the Police Station, commencing at 11 am. Vietnam veteran and long-time Melbourne singer-songwriter, Mr John Hunter, will be the guest vocalist.
Seymour
A dawn service will be held at 6am at the gates of Seymour Health, also known at Seymour District Memorial Hospital. A march from the Seymour sub-branch hall in Station Street will commence at 5.45am and will make its way to the gate for the dawn service. A gunfire breakfast will be at the sub-branch at the conclusion of the dawn service.
A march will depart from the car park behind Seymour Total Sports at 9.45am and march to the Seymour War Memorial on Anzac Avenue for a morning service at 10am. Community members are welcome to come to the RSL Hall for refreshments after the service.
Tooborac
A memorial service will be held in Tooborac at 6.30am. There will be speakers and wreath laying. A free breakfast will be held after the memorial at the Tooborac Hall.
Wallan
A Dawn Service will be held at 6am at Hadfield Park and a march will assemble at Queen Street at 8.15am and step off at 8.30am, before another service at 9am.
Wandong-Heathcote Junction
A service will be held at noon at Wandong Heathcote Junction Memorial Park, followed by a gold coin donation sausage sizzle. Organised by the Wandong History Group.
