Kilmore’s RURBAN back with a bang

ASSUMPTION College’s RURBAN festival is set to return this weekend, bringing rides, entertainment and food to visitors for one of the year’s biggest events.

This year’s festival is expected to build on the success of last year, with new attractions, performers, and special sessions organised to provide a wide range of entertainment for all visitors to enjoy.

Assumption principal Kate Fogarty said this year was set to be one of the best in recent years, with COVID-19 restrictions no longer in place.

“A significant difference this year will be that we can host this incredible event without COVID-19 restrictions. Session times and attendee numbers were capped during the 2021 event,” she said.

“Yet despite this, we saw over 10,000 attendees across the three days. We are planning for RURBAN to be just as big, if not bigger than last year and invite the wider community to visit and celebrate with us.”

Artists featuring on this year’s new and improved main stage include DJ Nussy, Miss Lizzy and The Night Owls, The Voice finalist Tanya George, and headliners Swim State – a band formed by Assumption students.

A range of carnival rides will also be available, including The Beast, Sky Flyer, Dodgem Cars, and Teacup rides.

The Liverpool Football Club International Academy will also host soccer skills sessions on Saturday, with merchandise available and all visitors invited to take part.

“We have exhilarating rides for the daredevils at heart as well as family-friendly options,” Ms Fogarty said.

“Many of the market stall holders will once again return to showcase their local produce and products, while the traditional festival food vendors will be on-site.”

New for this year will be the Fine Dining and Fireworks experience on Saturday, hosted at the college’s Neale Daniher Pavilion and featuring a menu curated by two past Assumption students who have now become world-renowned chefs.

Beverages supplied by nearby wineries and breweries will also be on offer, with visitors invited to watch fireworks from the pavilion’s balcony. The Fine Dining and Fireworks experience will be from 9.30pm to 10pm on Saturday night.

People who wish to attend the Fine Dining and Fireworks experience must purchase tickets, with bookings closing tomorrow (Wednesday). To book, visit www.rurban.com.au/fireworks-at-the-pav.
