Wandong Collective has been recognised for its business success, receiving runners-up for the Overcoming the Odds Award at the first-ever Australian Rural Business Awards 2022.

Rural and regional businesses received acknowledgement for their hard work and resilience within their communities at the inaugural awards.

Australian online marketplace Spends With Us presented the awards, in which they recognised the strength businesses have held onto during bushfires, lack of tourism and the global pandemic.

Wandong Collective owner Bek Barron said she was honoured to be named as a finalist of one of the five categories.

Since opening in September 2020 in Wandong, Ms Barron said the business had progressed over the years, flourishing with more stock and supplies.

“What started as a small boutique stocking a handful of brands, has now become a huge success with corporate gifting for local businesses as well as establishing over 60 local suppliers of handmade products,” she said.

Ms Barron said the Wandong Collective team had ‘felt so much emotion and joy’ with their accomplishments, especially as a rural business that had formed relationships among their local community.

Spends With Us founders Jenn Donovan and Sarah Blitz were moved from the amount of businesses that were involved with the awards.
