MITCHELL Youth Services has teamed up with YMCA Action Sports to host the North East Skate Park Series in Seymour on Saturday.
The Skate Park League competitions are community-based grassroots events focused on embracing skate park culture and bringing the community together.
Interested competitors and on-lookers can head to Seymour Skate Park on Saturday to compete in skate, scooter, and/or BMX events. Competitors will need bring their own helmet as one must be worn by all competitors.
Heat times are: skate, 11am – 10 and under, 13 and under, 16 and under, open; BMX, 12.30pm – 13 and under, open; scooter, 1.30pm – 10 and under, 13 and under, 16 and under, open.
There will be male and female divisions for each. Times are only a guide and will be flexible.
All presentations and prizes will be finalised at the end of the day. All competitors will also go in the draw to win raffle prizes.
Mitchell Shire Mayor Bill Chisholm said council was always looking for activities and events to engage young people in the shire.
“The isolation caused by COVID-19 restrictions has had a significant impact on young people and this event is a chance for them to get out and be active together,” he said.
“It will be a COVID-safe event and organisers will continue to monitor the situation and implement any necessary measures to keep everyone safe.”
