Kilmore family wins division one lotto

Popular Stories

A KILMORE family didn’t let lockdown ruin their TattsLotto win, staging a FaceTime party to celebrate their windfall of almost $800,000.

The family held one of the eight division one winning entries in TattsLotto draw 4181, drawn Saturday, August 14. Each division one winning entry took home a $797,532.27 prize.

When an official from The Lott called the winning family yesterday, they admitted they were waiting by the phone to hear their winning news confirmed.

“I looked at the winning numbers in the paper, and that’s when I found out,” one family member said.

“We hadn’t won much on our last few tickets, so it was a bit of a shock when I realised we’d won division one.

“I thought, ‘well this is going better than expected’.

“I told my wife straight away. We were trying to keep pretty calm about it, but we let out a few loud cheers.

“We actually buy this ticket with our daughter each week, so the three of us are in this. We called her on FaceTime yesterday and broke the news to her.

“She was screaming so loud when she found out. She was at her house, but she was so loud that you would’ve thought she was standing in the same room as us.

“It was great. We all popped a bottle of champagne and had a bit of a phone party to celebrate.

“My wife actually had a dream not long ago that something like this would happen, and it’s so crazy now that it has. It feels like it was meant to be.

“We’ve had a pretty tough time recently, so this really couldn’t have come at a better time.”

When asked how they planned to enjoy their prize, one of the winners had no hesitation – a get-together and a holiday.

The winning marked system eight entry was purchased at Kilmore Newsagency, at its new location of 74A Sydney Street, Kilmore.

It is the third time in 18 months the newsagency has sold a winning lotto ticket, and they have also sold many more division two entries.

Kilmore Newsagencyteam member Mary Nagothu said the outlet was celebrating.

“Congratulations to our winners. We wish you all the very best and hope you can all enjoy being division one winners,” she said.

“Recently, we moved into a new location, and we are already feeling so lucky with wins. We are hoping to sell more big wins to our customers soon.”
