Romsey stormed to a 225-point win at over Rockbank at home on Saturday, improving their record to 4-1 and solidifying second place on the RDFNL ladder.
The Redbacks came out of the gates firing, booting 8.5.53 in the first term while Rockbank made its only impact on the scoreboard all day with 1.1.7.
It was all Romsey from then on as the Redbacks piled on 7.12.54 in the second term to lead by 100 points at half-time.
Romsey stretched the lead to 153 points with a 7.11.53 third term but really put its foot down in the final term, kicking 11 goals.
Mitch Jensen kicked nine goals in the win while Joel Naylor kicked five majors in his best-on-ground performance.
Romsey coach Corey O’Sullivan said he was happy with the win but the team was a bit off defensively in the first half.“To Rockbank’s’ credit, they had a crack all game and we’re happy to get through the game uninjured and move on,” he said.
“Nathan Blair and Jack O’Sullivan and Naylor were really good but the pleasing thing was we’re getting contribution from every player who steps out there.
“Some of our more experienced players have been in good form all season so it just seems to be across the board at the moment.”
Romsey travels to Melton Centrals next week in a match between second and third on the ladder.
“I think we’ll play well, we’ve been in good form but we know Melton Centrals are vastly improved. We believe if we play our best footy we can get the job done,” O’Sullivan said.
