The Elms Retirement Estate in Kilmore is celebrating the completion of their seven-year development by installing a new flag outside their country club.

Residents packed outside to listen to Elms managing director Ben Martens unveil the new flag and thank all those involved in the development.

“When we first bought the village (in 2012) it was half complete so we took it over and finished the construction and built 62 homes. We are now home to 228 residents,” Mr Martens said.

“We offer a comfortable lifestyle for people in a safe and secure environment with great access to community facilities. We have a swimming pool and a bowling green, billiard rooms, a hairdressing salon, a gym, a library and a movie room.

“Mr Martens said the final stage was a wonderful conclusion to the village.

“Today’s all about the ceremony. There’s a celebratory party inside where all the residents get to enjoy a hot lunch and a drink, it really gives people a surge of life and energy – they love it,” he said.

Resident Keith McKechnie – who takes photographs for the estate’s paper – said it was great to see the construction finally finished.

“Just in the last month we are now full with residents,” Mr McKechnie said.

“It’s great to see how much it has grown in the past four years.”
