WARMER weather gives us all a chance to get active again, and this is especially important for our senior citizens.

The Federal Government-funded Seniors Lifestyle Victoria program offers access to a range of services to support participants to stay independent and well.

This includes support with physical activity, nutrition, medication management and social connection.

Part of the Strengthening Medicare – Supporting Older Australians package, the program aims to improve overall health and healthcare outcomes while also reducing avoidable hospital presentations and admissions.

Individuals who are 65 years or older (or 50 years or older if they are Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander), live in the community and are experiencing mild to moderate frailty symptoms including reduced mobility or unintentional weight loss are eligible for this program.

The Seniors Lifestyle Victoria program is free and designed to work alongside any current treatments and any existing care provided.

You can refer yourself or someone you care for by contacting any of the participating community health services, or a doctor may refer you directly.

Services are available at DPV Health in both Whittlesea and Mill Park, along with other metropolitan and regional service providers across the state.

The program will be available through these providers until June 2028. Visit the Better Health website for more information and further eligibility guidelines.
