FOLLOWING the corella damage to the greens at the Kilmore Golf Club, a fundraising effort has been launched to ensure the club can raise money to renovate the course.

The club is preparing to launch an auction for multiple items, vouchers and equipment.

Significant damage has been caused by corellas over the last three months. In some cases, greens will need to be totally reconstructed with new drainage installed and replanted.

The club’s Andrea Willis says the Club has a maintenance budget, but when something like this happens that’s way outside the normal budget we have, we need to raise extra money to actually do the repairs.

“When club members are volunteering to do things, they get incredibly disheartened with the fact that this is just being destroyed, so that’s the other aspect of it. We’re doing as much as we can, but it’s very hard to do it under these circumstances,” she said.

32auctions.com will be the main port of call for the club to auction off items, with multiple businesses jumping on board.

“We have around 50 items on the auction at the moment. We have a lot of gift vouchers from local people, we have vouchers from food and meals to beauty treatments and footwear. We also have vouchers for Big Swing Golf through Drummond Golf,” Ms Willis said.

“We also have a second-hand electric golf buggy, things like cement mixers and a farm truck. A member who is involved with dressage horses has included horse riding lessons and a tour of the farm.

“The Kilmore Golf Club is maintained by volunteers only, and keeping the course in good condition has many advantages for the whole community.

“Students and staff at the local school’s risk losing this sporting facility if the course is not maintained in good condition.

The club is also calling on the community to help with donations. This can be done by contacting Ron Campbell on 0414 889 875.
