The cocky’s yarn
Once upon a time (in Kilmore)
There were two cockatoos
They were young, they were spritely
Ready for action!
For they were bored!
One, who I will name, ‘I’m going to do this”
Screeched to the other, whom I named ‘I’ll be in it’,
“Aha, from this big tree, I spy some garden plants of pretty colour!”
The cocky named ‘I’m going to do this’ called to his mate ‘I’ll be in it’,
Down they swooped
No landowner, nor dog, nor cat to be seen!
And I can tell you
That no paper-shredder
Could have done better
In reducing pretty plants
Into coloured graffiti
Than those two cockatoos
Now known by name
As ‘I’m going to do this’
And ‘I’ll be in it!’
