VICTORIAN farmers and rural landholders are invited to attend a webinar on Wednesday September 2 at 7pm to help prepare for the upcoming fire season.

Agriculture Victoria Land Management Extension Officer, Kylie Macreadie said managing the risk of bushfire on your farm is essential.

“Whether you are a livestock producer, equine property owner, small landholder, hobby farmer or new to farming, planning now for the fire season can help reduce stress and ensure your people, property, animals, and business is prepared,” she said.

“Preparing involves identifying risks and taking practical steps well before a fire threatens your
property.

“The webinar is one of the opportunities Agriculture Victoria will be promoting for farmers to consider their fire preparedness ahead of the fire season.

“It will provide practical guidance on developing a farm fire plan, identifying critical assets, protecting animals, and ensuring families, staff and contractors know their roles during an emergency.”

Ms Macreadie said Agriculture Victoria’s Fire Preparedness Toolkit will be shared during the
webinar.

“The toolkit includes practical resources such as farm mapping templates, preparedness checklists, action plans, and emergency contact templates,” she said.

Ms Macreadie said the webinar will help farmers start developing their own farm fire plan.

Agriculture Victoria says this is an opportunity to gain practical knowledge and insights to help strengthen your farm’s bushfire preparedness before summer.
