HOGANS Hotel Restaurant in Wallan has been recognised by OpenTable as one of the Top 25 Hotel Restaurants in the country.
The Hotel has been a prominent figure in the dining scene within the shire for over 40 years.
The Review spoke to the general manager at Hogans, Darren Freestone, who believes it’s the affordability that they offer, which won them the award.
“People know what they’ve got when they come, so I think the chefs play a huge role, but the front of house and management have to deal with the public day to day, so it’s obviously a team effort,” he said.
“We offer half-size meals, which is great instead of a seniors’ menu, and I think affordability, especially at the moment, it just caters for a lot of different people.”
The hotel has plans of upcoming work on the kitchen, which is set to make meals come out faster, and be able to cater for more people.
It will close the kitchen for meals for two weeks, but they are keen to continue to improve for the busy periods of the year towards summer.
As for their other premises in Romsey, there is no news or updates, and full focus is currently looking at improving the Wallan Hotel.
“We are always thinking of Romsey Hotel and what we can do, but for the moment, Wallan is our main priority.”
