THE Sri Lankan Association of Mitchell Shire brought in the Tamil New Year on Sunday with a big celebration day at Hadfield Park in Wallan.
Overcast sky greeted the Tamil New Year, but vibrant colours helped lighten the atmosphere as celebrations kicked off in style.

Traditional food was on offer, as was a great range of terrific games for adults and children alike to play, while music also kept the mood upbeat.
Games included spotting the eye of the elephant, as well as musical chairs and a game where children had to blow a balloon until it popped, before running to the other side.

Three Mitchell Shire councillors joined in the event, with Mayor John Dougall making an appearance, as did Deputy Mayor Timothy Hanson and councillor Bob Cornish.
