Victorians deserve answers

AT least $15 billion has been lost to cost blowouts and corruption on Victorian Government Big Build projects under Premier Jacinta Allan. That is $15 billion that should have been invested in regional Victoria. In Parliament recently, every non-government party supported establishing a Royal Commission into the $15 billion CFMEU corruption scandal. A Liberal and Nationals motion in the Legislative Council calling for a Royal Commission into corruption on Big Build sites was backed by every crossbench party. Labor voted against it.

The amount of $15 billion could have rebuilt unsafe regional roads, delivered reliable power across our region, upgraded ageing country schools, funded a new secondary school in Kilmore, strengthened regional hospitals, expanded mental health services and improved public transport for towns that are too often overlooked. Instead, regional communities are left watching billions disappear while their basic infrastructure needs go unmet. Victorians deserve straight answers, accountability and transparency.

Get spending priorities right

IN REGARD to the amount of money our elected politicians are giving away to other countries to ensure our safety from other countries, I had to put pen to paper.

We see the “Smith Family” ads on TV of children who do not have the essentials for school – i.e. uniforms and footwear. There are a number of immigrants, in my view, infiltrating our country, “abusing” our welfare system and given housing along with white goods and furnishings free of charge, while tax-paying Australians who have worked for this country are unable to secure a home of their own and being charged big rent payments.

Exit Southern Cross Station and enter Collins Street, and one can see the poor destitute people of this country sleeping rough on the streets.

It makes my blood boil. We need to look after our own before others. I am embarrassed to be Australian to see how politicians are treating my fellow Australians.
