THE Whittlesea VIEW Club has returned its entire committee for 2026 following its annual general meeting, capping off what President Julie Burgess described as a “hugely successful year” for the organisation.

Members voted to reinstate Julie Burgess as President, with Joy O’Callaghan as Vice President, Judy Acott as Secretary and Judy Bayliss as Assistant Secretary. Fay Cairns continues as Treasurer, supported by Marilyn McQualler OAM as Assistant Treasurer and Welfare Officer. Maggie Bell was nominated as Delegate, subject to her acceptance of the position. Sue Butters and Glynis Phelan will again serve as Program Officers, while Helen Binion continues in the role of Fundraising Coordinator.

In her annual address, Ms Burgess said 2025 had been a sound year financially, highlighted by a series of highly successful fundraising efforts.

Major activities included three Bunnings barbecues, numerous Cycle Counts, a Mother’s Day raffle, participation in the Mooroopna Rotary Car Raffle and members assisting at the Whittlesea Show. Funds raised were further boosted through the club’s popular Trading Table, coin collections at luncheons, morning teas, mahjong and book chat gatherings, as well as theatre outings and birthday and Christmas celebrations.

“It is the combined income from all these initiatives that has enabled the club to sponsor eight students through The Smith Family Learning for Life Program,” Ms Burgess said.

She acknowledged the dedication of the committee and members who work behind the scenes to ensure the smooth running of the club.

“While I don’t usually like to name individuals for fear of missing someone out, I do need to acknowledge them and thank them for their commitment this past year,” she said.

“A heartfelt thank you to every member for what has been, in my view — pun intended — a hugely successful year. It has been my privilege to be President in 2025. I have seen so many examples of care, kindness and friendship amongst members.”

Whittlesea VIEW Club provides a welcoming forum for women to enjoy valuable social connection while supporting The Smith Family’s programs, which aim to address disadvantage among students across Australia.
