Youth Fest returns for 2026

Popular Stories

YOUNG Victorians will once again have a chance to take the lead and bring their communities together with the return of the Victorian Youth Fest in 2026.

Minister for Youth Natalie Suleyman and Member for Macedon Mary-Anne Thomas announced $220,000 in funding to support more than 100 events across the state during the month-long festival this September.

Grants of up to $2000 are now open to schools, local governments and community organisers working alongside young people aged 12 to 25 to create youth-led events.

From live music and art showcases to sporting activities and cultural celebrations, the festival encourages young people to design and deliver events that reflect their interests and strengthen connections within their communities.

Ms Suleyman said: “Youth Fest gives young people the opportunity to channel their energy and creativity into events they can design, lead and share with their peers and local communities.

“This program opens doors for young people, including those who may not otherwise have the chance, to create, plan and deliver events they are passionate about.”

Last year, the festival supported 110 youth-led events across regional and metropolitan Melbourne.

Ms Thomas highlighted the impact of the program across regional areas.

“Fourty-four grants [were] awarded in the 2025 round supported projects in regional Victoria, reflecting the strong focus on backing young people and communities outside metropolitan areas,” she said.

“Youth Fest is a fantastic opportunity for young people to take the reins and create the type of events they’d like to go to.”

Applications for Victorian Youth Fest 2026 are open now and close at 1pm on March 4. For more information or to apply, visit vic.gov.au/youth-fest-grants
