WET and overcast weather wasn’t going to stop the Kookaburra Women’s grades from taking centre stage on Sunday morning.

Wallan made the trek to Maddingley Park in A grade, but despite scoring at a reasonable clip, the Magpies didn’t quite have enough to score victory over Bacchus Marsh.

Megan Farrell’s 41 and Kia Montgomery’s 33 gave Wallan good impetus at the top of the order, while Emily Dimech added to the score with a run-a-ball 25, leaving Wallan to finish on 4/136.

However, Bacchus Marsh was too strong with the bat, scoring 1/140 to take victory.

Kilmore was left to lick its wounds following a 64-run loss to Gisborne at Macedon Ranges Sports Precinct.

Despite the best efforts of Taylah Logie’s 3/12 restricting Gisborne to 5/118, the Blues were outplayed by Gisborne in the field, with Wendy Smith the only batter to make double figures, scoring 10 as Kilmore was restricted to 7/54.

There was better news for Lancefield Black, however, with a heroic knock from Nat Jeffrey the difference in the Tigers’ 17-run victory over Macedon at home.

Jeffrey’s 50 helped the Tigers make 5/98, before Quinn Barnett did a superb job with the ball, taking 4/9 off four overs as the Cats were held to 7/81.

In B grade, Broadford hosted raging favourites for the title Lancefield Yellow.

Broadford gave a reasonable account of itself, although the Tigers were the better team.

Lancefield Yellow was well led by Emily Consiglio, who scored 43, and Connagh Phillips, who added 28 as the Tigers made 2/139 off its 20 overs.

Broadford then scored 7/70, with Brooke Jeffery scoring 12 and Jessica Budd 11 as the team continues to look for its first win.

In B grade this week, Broadford will make the trip to Melton Centrals, while Lancefield Yellow travels to East Sunbury. In A grade, Kilmore and Wallan will meet at the Kilmore Cricket Ground, while Lancefield will host Bacchus Marsh.
