SEYMOUR is counting down the days until the Seymour Cup, set to be held this Sunday.
It’s a big day for the town, with thousands ready to converge for one of country racing’s big days on the calendar, with plenty of action to keep punters and the family interested.
Activities include roving entertainment, with Wacky Creative, Mirrored Unicorn and Roaming Trio of Musicians, live music with Bentley Grattan, a special Bathurst 1000 precinct with a big screen showing the race live, Fashions on the Field with prizes and free kids activities, including pony rides, jumping castle and face painting.
There’s also a hospitality option to suit everyone, from mini marquees to umbrella and picnic table packages, and Winning Post restaurant tickets.
Seymour Racing Club CEO Chris Martin said the town was abuzz with anticipation ahead of the event.
“The bet365 Seymour Cup is a day where people from right across the region flock to Seymour to enjoy country racing at its finest,” he said.
“For some, they love the thrill of watching the horses charge down the straight; for others, it’s all the glitz, glamour and hospitality trackside.
“We’ve really ramped up the trackside entertainment this year with new initiatives like the Bathurst precinct, including a driving simulator.
“The kids will also be able to take advantage of a jumping castle, pony rides and face painting – all free of charge.”
With tickets and packages selling fast ahead of the marquee event, racegoers are encouraged to book ahead.
“There’s some serious hype this year ahead of the cup and we sold out the Bar Landy Restaurant a month ago,” Mr Martin said.
“There are still some incredible packages on offer but don’t hesitate. These are flying out the door.
“The bet365 Seymour Cup is a true community event, one not to be missed, and I look forward to seeing everyone trackside on Sunday, October 12.”
