THE Wallan Kilmore Homing Club hosted another thrilling event on Saturday, September 27, with members competing in the Kyabram 4 race. The club saw 425 birds released into strong north-westerly winds, producing a fast and competitive flight.

Taking first place was Jerzy Gregorzek, who edged out a narrow win against strong competition. Gregorzek recorded a top speed of 1,532 metres per minute, just 14 mpm faster than runner-up Charlie Grech. Third place went to the consistent performer Les Morris.

The race highlighted just how close pigeon racing can be, with Gregorzek covering an additional 1,756 metres compared to Grech yet still managing to secure victory. His birds demonstrated both endurance and precision, rewarding him with the win.

In addition to his club success, Gregorzek represented Wallan Kilmore in the VRPU Two-Bird Federation event, held from Morgan in South Australia. Against a field of 62 flyers and 324 birds, he achieved an impressive 24th and 34th placing. His performance in the Federation event reflects not only the strength of his loft but also the high calibre of competitors within the Wallan Kilmore club.

The club continues to celebrate the dedication of its members, whose training, skill and commitment to the sport produce remarkable results week after week. With strong winds adding to the challenge, the Kyabram 4 race proved another exciting chapter in the season.

As the racing calendar progresses, attention now turns to upcoming events where local flyers will again test their skills against the elements—and each other—while aiming to secure further success for the Wallan Kilmore Homing Club on both the club and federation stage.
