SPRING TIME adventures are just around the corner as the final bell for term three Primary and Secondary students across the region rings this Friday afternoon.

Teddy Bear Hunt

At Wellington Square, kids will have the chance to find teddy bears hidden along the shopping strip, with prizes awarded and many surprises in store for participants.

One of three Cubbie Bear vouchers worth $70 are on offer, with the competition running until Saturday, September 27 at 4pm.

Footy finals fever

Mid-way through the school holidays, there’s footy finals fever at Wellington Square Shopping Centre with their Make A Funky Footy Badge activity on Thursday, September 25 from 10am to 2pm.

Get in quick to avoid disappointment as the activity is available only while stocks last and for up to 100 participants.

Kilmore Village

The Kilmore Village has a crafty school holiday program designed to create lasting memories with four fun and free activities held between 10.30am and 12.30pm.

This Saturday, pop down for free face painting and the fun continues with a ‘make your own alien and space craft activity’ on Tuesday, September 23.

There’s still one more week to go, so visit the Village to make an astronaut helmet and a rocket ship on Friday, October 3 and on Sunday October 5 there is more face painting—remember to bring your camera.

wa wa biik walking tour

Are you looking for an educational school holiday experience that combines exercise and discovery?

This wawa Euroa wayilak (young people) experience provides children aged 6-12 years with an introduction to Taungurung culture, specifically around cultural use of plants for food, medicine, and tools, all within the wonderfully engaging setting of the Euroa Arboretum on Thursday, September 25 commencing at 10am.

This experience is a fun and immersive way for children and parents to develop or deepen their own connection to Country through hands on activities led by Taungurung guides.

Children aged 6 to 12 can join for $50 each and the cost for adults is $80 per person.

Book early to avoid disappointment; places are limited. The meeting point is at the Euroa Arboretum, 76 Hume Fwy, Euroa.

Gnarly Neighbours

The social enterprise for young people aged 12 to 24 includes a skate shop, skate ramps, basketball rings and a café for young people to use.

Upstairs there’s arcade games and a billiards table to play on.

Gnarly Neighbours is open Monday to Friday, 6am to 5pm and on Saturday and Sunday 7am to 2pm at 12 Crawford Street, Seymour.

Libraries

In the heart of every town is a child friendly library where there is no end to the discoveries young and young at heart can find.

These school holidays at Mitchell Shire Council’s Seymour Library and Customer Service Centre children can make a paper Labubu doll to take home.

No special skills are needed, this free activity suits children aged 6 plus and it will be held on Tuesday, September 23, 1.30pm to 2.30pm at 125 Anzac Avenue, Seymour.

Fishing and the great outdoors

Weather pending, the Goulburn River in Victoria is a premier fishing destination, especially known for its reliable trout fishing and the occasional Murray Cod and Golden Perch.

The pontoon at Seymour Park is a great place to fish from, and there are family BBQ’s nearby and also a playground area.

Macedon Ranges Shire Councils award winning Romsey Eco Therapy Park is a unique experience consisting of play equipment, art installations, sensory gardens and picnic areas.

The Yan Yean Reservoir Park near Whittlesea is another notable recreational family outing for its walking trails, shaded picnic areas, electric barbecues, rotundas, picnic tables and abundant parking

Toilet facilities are located at both ends of the park and both have parenting amenities. The northern facilities are also wheelchair accessible.

Pack some binoculars and head into the extensive wetlands to see the abundant birdlife that lives and feeds in the area.
