IT was a terrific afternoon at the Wandong and Heathcote Junction Community Centre as the Mitchell Shire Council (MSC) officially marked its September delegation as part of the Mitchell and Honbetsu sister city relationship, with Japanese students meeting their host families for the first time.
Consul-General of Japan in Melbourne, Tokuro Furuya, was in attendance to mark the start of 2025’s delegation, with the delighted students and host families introduced to one another throughout the afternoon.
The delegation marked the 31st year of partnership between MSC and Honbetsu, given the similarities in farming and geography, and the opportunity to build friendships.
Councillors Claudia James, Nathan Clark and Andrea Pace were also at Wandong to help celebrate and mark MSC’s involvement in the sister city initiative.
