THE next stage of Beveridge’s retail and community growth is underway, with a sod turn marking the start of works on a new retail precinct at the corner of Lithgow Street and Mallaig Drive.
Known as Beveridge Village, the precinct will feature 14 shops and a childcare facility, including a small supermarket, laundromat and barber. Developer Oreana expects it to open in mid-2026.
Mitchell Shire Mayor John Dougall said the project was a major milestone for one of Victoria’s fastest-growing communities.
“This precinct will create local jobs, provide greater convenience for families, and add to the sense of community that is continuing to build here in Beveridge,” he said.
It is one of several retail projects planned across the suburb. A Coles supermarket has been approved for Camerons Lane and Patterson Road, scheduled to open in late 2026, while another application proposes a supermarket, fast-food outlets and supporting shops around a new town square nearby.
Cr Dougall said Council was determined to ensure Beveridge’s rapid growth came with the services and infrastructure residents need.
“We’re not just building houses – we’re creating complete communities,” he said.
