THE Wallan Kilmore Homing Pigeon Club has celebrated strong performances in recent weeks, with close finishes and standout results at Federation level.
In the first Shepparton race on August 16, Jerzy Gregorzek claimed first place, narrowly ahead of Charlie Grech in second and Mark Cavanagh in third.
Less than a minute separated the three, making it one of the season’s most exciting finishes. Gregorzek also enjoyed success on the broader stage, securing fourth place in the VRPU Federation race from Tintinara, a 473-kilometre event that drew 837 birds.
In the Greater Melbourne Tasmania race, over a distance of 417 kilometres with 160 birds competing, Charlie Grech finished tenth and Thomas took thirteenth, adding further recognition for the club.
The following week, on August 23, Les Morris took out top honours in the second Shepparton race, with Charlie Grech again close behind in second and Jerzy Gregorzek finishing third. Federation results from the Tintinara event also saw Gregorzek claim twentieth place, the Cavanagh/Anderson team in thirtieth, and Mario Pace in thirty-sixth position, all strong efforts against a field of 740 birds.
The club has extended its congratulations to all members, noting the consistency of results across both local and Federation competitions.
