LIBERAL Member for Northern Victoria Wendy Lovell has urged the Minister for Roads and Road Safety to immediately address the dangerous potholes at the eastern end of Donnybrook Road near Merriang Road.
The State Government recently announced that it is “wrapping up” its road maintenance program, despite the fact that many major arterial roads in Victoria are still dangerously damaged and in desperate need of repair.
Ms Lovell spoke in parliament to raise the concerns of a constituent who contacted her to complain about the awful state of the surface of Donnybrook Road.
“Dangerous potholes on Donnybrook Road are damaging cars and could easily lead to collisions and injuries,” she said.
“The Minister for Roads must order the urgent rehabilitation of the potholed road surface in the short term and completely duplicate and renew the road pavement as soon as possible.”
Ms Lovell claims potholes are growing larger every day near the Merriang Road intersection, temporary patches quickly disintegrate, and she has seen cars frequently cross to the other side of the road to avoid the massive holes in the road surface.
