THE Seymour-trained galloper Weekend Lover chose a good time to score his maiden victory just days after stakes for maiden races were raised to a minimum of $32,000 in Victoria.
The 5 year old scored a comfortable 4.75 length win over 2025 metres on a heavy track at Wodonga last Tuesday.
The Ilovethiscity gelding rewarded trainer Penny Reeve for her patience with the redhead which Reeves describes as being a handful.
Later in the programme Seymour trainer Peter Smith scored in the Benchmark 58 1100 metres with his galloper Gundaroo. The win was the gelding’s fourth win from 23 starts, taking his stakes earnings to $111,650.
On Thursday at Ballarat the Stephen Brown trained Tradeworx confirmed his liking for synthetic tracks with his third win on a synthetic surface, taking out the Benchmark 58 2100 metre event.
He had previously won on the Ballarat synthetic track in July 2024 and on the Pakenham synthetic track the following month.
